New Alien Book
May 27, 2004 (General News)

Continuum Books has just published a book
entitled Alien Woman: The Making of Lt. Ripley by Ximena Gallardo-C. and C. Jason Smith which
examines the construction of sex and gender in the four science-fiction films comprising the Alien saga.
Alien Woman examines the construction of sex and gender in the four science-fiction films compirisng the Alien saga
(starring Sigourney Weaver). The Alien saga stands alone in presenting an enduring, self-reliant female protagonist, Ripley, who in the
first film ends up as the sole survivior of the beleaguered starship Nostromo. Subsequent writers and directors in the 1980s and 1990s,
left to grapple with this strong female protagonist, re-envision Ripley to for different social, political, and cultural imperatives for
women. Alien Woman focuses on how these writers and directors have re-written Ripley and how each revision informs our understanding of
women in science fiction. And by examining the films' creation and commodification of the female hero, the books illustrates how
changing attitudes toward women and the female body help us understand broader societal beliefs and relationships, and provides a
useful lens with which to understand woman's place in the late 20th century and early 21st century.

Dark Horse Comics has just uploaded an interview with Aliens vs. Predator: Thrill of the Hunt Trade
Paperback co-author Mike Kennedy
here!
Thanks to Mano for the scoop!
New AvP Trade Paperback
May 6, 2004 (Comics News)

Dark Horse Comics on Thursday announced Aliens vs. Predator: Thrill of the Hunt Trade Paperback, a
new 96-page comic by Mike Kennedy and Roger Robinson.
"In the farthest reaches of space, a creature terrified us. Acid blood. Armored skin. Razor-sharp
teeth. No mercy. In the depths of a rain forest, another creature hunted us. Perfect camouflage.
Fearsome weapons. Brutal methods. No conscience. In 2004, these monsters clashed on Earth in the
greatest battle the universe has ever known. But far in the future, long after a technological
catastrophe that started a second Dark Age, all memory of these two species has been forgotten. And
when Mankind again reaches for the stars, we will discover that, truly, those who cannot remember
the past are condemned to repeat it. Once again, Man is caught in the middle of a deadly struggle.
"Based on this summer's major-motion picture from 20th Century Fox, Alien vs. Predator: Thrill of
the Hunt carries the themes and story elements from the film into new territories of action and
terror, crafted by Mike Kennedy and illustrator Roger Robinson , all in a value-priced original
graphic novel. Cover painting by Society of Illustrators award-winner David Michael Beck."

three preds on the top of the pyrimid fighting the aliens. I'll get you the pics shortly. Is that
cool, or is that cool?!"

The Terminator, Aliens, Pumpkinhead, Alien 3, Jennifer Eight, Super Mario Bros., Powder, Tarzan, and Scream 3. He's also made his

New Aliens Crossover Comic
March 8, 2004 (Media News)

Over at Planet AvP there's a news mention on an upcoming
Aliens/Predator/Batman/Superman crossover:
Wizard magazine (a comic book-movie mag) has reported on an upcoming Superman/Batman/Aliens/Predator
comic book that's coming to a bookstore near you; it could even be out this May! The storyline finds
Superman and Batman investigating a volcanic eruption in the Andes Mountains -- where they find a
whole mess of Aliens and Predators in "hidden caverns."
Of course, DC Comics (Superman and Batman) and Dark Horse Comics (Aliens and Predator) are
collaborating on making this quadruped crossover. More specifically, writer Steve Schultz and artist
Ariel Olivetti are working as a team to bring this two-issue "Prestige-Format" mini-series to life.
"I'm a big fan of the 'Alien' and 'Predator' films, both of which I consider top-flight horror
and science fiction adventure," says Schultz. "And since I worked on both properties for Dark
Horse, and have had a long stint writing Man of Steel, I guess I was considered familiar enough to
an acceptable job."
For more info over at Planet AvP, click here!
You can view three pages from the comic, here!

Palisades Queen Micro Bust Now Shipping
February 26, 2003 (General News)

Palisades Toys is pleased to present their first polystone statue based on
Alien 3 - the Alien Queen Chestburster. Although it appeared on screen for only a few brief seconds - and never in plain sight - the
Queen Chestburster played a pivotal role in the film. Ripley's horror at being the host for the Queen was compounded by her
realization that her status as incubator was the only thing that saved her from the Dog Alien. Ripley's suicide scene - her
sacrificial plunge into the molten lead in order to kill the Queen Chestburster - was one of the most dramatic moments in the Alien
Quadrilogy.
Now, for the first time ever, the infamous newborn Queen Chestburster is rendered in 3 dimensions in the eerie spiral pose made famous
by the movie poster. And of course, she includes all of the stunning attention to detail that you have come to expect from Palisades'
line of Alien products.

More on Palisades Exclusive Pewter Bust
December 28, 2003 (General News)

It has been almost two years since Palisades Toys launched its hugely successful line of
Alien polystone products, and each consecutive piece seems to sell out more quickly than the one before it. And the line shows no signs of slowing down
in 2004. The inaugural Palisades Alien piece - long sold out, and perhaps the most difficult to find on the secondary market - was a beautifully
detailed version of the Alien creature from the original 1979 film. Now, in celebration of the recent expansion of their Alien license (to include all
four films in the series), Palisades is pleased to present a very limited, all-new interpretation of the Alien, made completely out of pewter - the
Alien: Special Edition Pewter Mini Bust.
Limited strictly to 750 pieces world-wide, the Alien: Special Edition Pewter Mini Bust is a shared exclusive between
AisleSniper.com
in the United States and Blister Direct in Japan. Weighing a monstrous twelve pounds, and packaged in a deluxe wooden collectors box (perfect for display), this very
limited piece is sure to be highly sought after. "We have held off on producing an Alien exclusive for some time," says Palisades President & CEO,
Michael Horn, "However, it has become extremely evident that there is not only a demand for more Alien products, but specifically there is a great
demand for high end Alien products. This piece will certainly fill that niche."
The Alien: Special Edition Pewter Mini Bust carries an SRP of $299.99, and is available for pre-order now at
AisleSniper.com and Blister.

Palisades Holiday Wrap-Up
December 12, 2003 (General News)

While we're eagerly awating the release of Palisades Toys Alien:
Special Edition Bust, they were
kind enough to send us review samples of their Aliens Warrior Mini Bust and
Predator Defeated Mini Bust. We have to say everyone here is completely blown away at the
quality, sculpting and attention to detail Palisades has continually put into their products. The Aliens Warrior bust features an original sculpt of the rarely seen (and in our
opinion, not seen enough) James Cameron version of the Alien Warrior. The Predator Defeated bust features an incredible "smashed, battered, bruised, and bleeding" Predator who might look down, but he's
certainly not out. We especially *loved* the glow-like green Predator blood oozing from his wounds, in fact, the painting on these polystone busts simply needs to be seen
to be believed. Kudos to everyone at Palisades for another job well done.
If you're looking to purchase any of the above items, we suggest Aisle Sniper,
Action Figure Express, Darkworlds, and
Monsters in Motion. Good luck and happy hunting!
